As a mom to three sons, I know that spending quality time together is a must if I want to build a solid relationship with them.
I’m kicking myself because I can’t remember what the book was called that I read in college but it talked about how to get your son to tell you what’s going on in their lives and open up to you without prying. It was very simple: spend uninterrupted quality time with them, even just for 10 minutes, and they will tend to just start talking organically.
I know, mama, life gets so busy! But it’s so worth it to slow down and spend 1-on-1 time with your son, undistracted by life’s stresses.
One good way to make sure you do this is to schedule a date night together each month.
With the help of my 9 year old, Lincoln, I’ve put together this list of mother and “son” date ideas so you can #momtothefullest!
(My 9 year old also cringed when I called it a mother & son “date” so maybe call it something else, haha!)
