I’m Megan
So glad you found me! I started this blog because I have observed many women feeling discouraged that having children and being a parent gets in the way of living a full, rich life. I believe that is just simply not true! I hope this is a place that inspires you to live your life to the fullest as a mom with little ones in tow. In fact, I would argue that life is even more rich and full when you’re enjoying it with the humans you made!
What do I know?! Well, I am a 33 year old mother to three sons aged 2, 9 and 15. I’ve been with my husband for almost 5 years now; we are a blended family! Our 15 year old comes from my husbands previous marriage and our 9 year old from mine. Our 2 year old, we had together. It is a happy, busy, (and loud and stinky) home full of boys! …and me. Actually, we are currently living with my in-laws so my mother-in-law stands with me in female solidarity!
My knowledge comes from, of course, life experience, but also from some of my past endeavors: I studied human services in college and earned a degree in substance abuse counseling and went on to study psychology with an emphasis in child and adolescent services. I worked for a non-profit outpatient substance abuse recovery center as a counselor for 5 years. During those years I worked with struggling youth in a middle and high school setting. I was promoted to lead counselor of my recovery center and then began working more with adults that were diagnosed with substance use disorders. This job was extremely rewarding but extremely mentally draining. I demoted myself from lead counselor to part-time assessor. This decision came because I felt I was missing out on being a mom to the fullest. When I had my youngest son, I decided not to go back to work and stay home to homeschool my older boys in 2020.
As a family, we have had some amazing adventures; from attempting to move to off-grid, remote Alaska to road-tripping around the entire country in a 1992 Winnebago RV. We do pretty much EVERYTHING as a family and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I can’t wait to share with you how I have been able to have amazing adventures along with my kiddos.
Right now I’m in the middle of my 3rd year of homeschooling the big boys and I think I’m finally getting the hang of things.. I think. I’ll share some of my homeschooling strategies in this blog. I would also love to hear some of yours.
Other topics you will find in this blog are all centered around making your life as a mom more simple, happy and full of adventure. Speaking of adventure, that is one of the categories discussed in this blog along with: Parenting, Marriage, Self-Care and Self-Improvement, Home, Health and Fitness, and Mealtime.
Thank you for stopping by! You are so appreciated,
Megan
